It was an amazing time.

It was an amazing time.

It was an amazing time.

Love, it was an amazing moment, the time we had,

The serendipity of our paths crossing left us heart to heart

that a friendship blossomed.

As friends, side by side, we ventured through a phase of life

looped in adventure;

Park to Park and path to path, free of the misfortune of worry.

And I remember that beach we’d go, rapturing and basking

in its flirting sands and rolling waves under the sun’s farewell glow,

Watching water hiss, in its perpetual swirls.

Then we’d lose our selves in the beauty of those sunsets,

a sight gloriously sublime.

That adventure etched the epochs for our souls to weave into one.

And then in a silent symphony, our spirits danced

into a love as pure and as endearingly profound.

It creeped in silently, tiptoeing as if not to amuse our hearts

and stun our hypnotized souls.

When we knew, we were irredeemably entangled;

our lives could only be lived as one.

In every whispered word, in every heartbeat’s sound,

I found you finding me.

Our days would continue into nights brimming with cheered embraces

of our shapes and forms.

Walking together, in time’s gentle pace,

In a love so nectareous and deep we were disposed,

That in every touch, in every glance,

In every step and in every shared dance,

Our world became one of burning passion and a living fairy tale

that for sure we’d chase for eternity.

And then came the question, on that remarkable night under a starlit sky,

A proposal, a promise, a shared sigh.

Yes, a word that started our lifelong journey,

Easing us into a marriage filled with love and a radiance of joy.

We grew together, facing life’s vast challenges shoulder to shoulder,

Bearing children and recounting to them over and over again

about our love how we’d fallen flat, our souls mirroring.

Time and burdens of marriage tried us but love was persistent too,

In every challenge and pain, our hearts would only find each other.

Years pressed into decades; our hair morphed to grey

But our love endured, it never did fray despite the rough edges of age.

As age took its toll,

Our shared joy remained as same.

As we became worn with age, a sworn enemy to health,

hospital ward rooms became our other room;

There we’d reminisce

About our youth, about our first innocent kiss.

And tears would come, knowing that death indeed was up for its part,

To shred our love.

Alas, death robbed you first, the day you left, the world grew dim,

A silence fell, the light turned grim, my heart was plucked out,

my soul, hollow and forever chasm-ed will never stop to holler your name.

With your last breath, a part of me breathed last along,

And from that moment, time has frozen, causing a loop,

I still feel your spirit slip away,

I can see your eyes longing for mine, trying to hold on a bit,

I still plead to the heavens to wait, to borrow us some time,

Not to end our life's play that way too short.

Today, I stand alone, with memories so dear,

By your tombstone, shedding tear to tear.

Writing these words, a tribute to our time,

A love story, poignant and sublime.

Hoping, in another life, we’ll reunite,

To carry on our eternal love where death has no part;

Until then, my heart will continue to yearn,

And pray for today to be the day, to be passed on to you.
