Never Hurt a Heart That Loves You

Never hurt a heart that loves you.

Never Hurt a Heart That Loves You

Never hurt a heart that loves you,

Isn’t that the phrase? Or is it?

What a damned thing to do!

In the silence of these two weeks,

I drown in unspoken words,

Language fails me, my tongue tied,

By the weight of what we feel.

Never hurt a heart that loves you,

That phrase, it haunts my mind,

You are the heart I hurt now,

And it baffles me, my heart burns.

Why did we have to meet again,

In these unforgiving circumstances?

A twist of fate, a cruel jest,

That leaves us gasping, yearning.

I know what you feel for me,

And I know what I feel for you,

Yet here we are, stranded by fate,

Friends, when love is what we crave.

It frustrates me, this bitter truth,

Hard to speak without causing pain,

Truthfully, I love you, there, I said it,

But to act would bring more pain, more burden.

So, I stay silent, our love unvoiced,

A burning ache, a hidden flame,

In this vast expanse of distance,

My heart bleeds away, melting at every thought of you.
